In this short article we’ll encourage you to start your preparations early & if possible try not to wait till after the sudden Firework explosion has happened.
The honest answer is that you just can not tell if your dog will be ok after fireworks. Like many of us, events that we experience tend to shape the way we behave & act in the future. At Nurturing by Nature we recommend nurturing your pet at every stage of their lives helping to build a well rounded healthy pet & it's our aime with such articles to inform our community by passing on oue knowledge & experiance.
We understand that all Dogs & Cats are different. A Gun dog for example is more than contented with the sound of a shotgun going off close by, yet other dog’s we understand have a fear of loud noises such as fireworks, to the point that causes them visible distress & likewise ourselves too. We should also understand that just because our Pet's seemed ok after the last Firework display, this year may not be the same.
Do not wait till after the event. Start your preparation early & in ways that may surprise you too. Below we look at subjects around your pet that you may not have considered, affect the way that they behave but you can follow these links to articles that support wellbeing in your world & your Pet's: "Support Your Pet Through Halloween and Fireworks Season" , "The Secret to Healthy Pet Teeth and Gums" (Important to overall heath of your pet.) History
It may sound simple but the past is a good place to look for clues to understand if your pet will be ok with fireworks.
Have they witnessed fireworks before?
Have they been scared previously of fireworks?
Diet
Many Comercial pet foods contain ingredients that may not support optimal health quite as much as they say they do. With sprayed on artificial flavourings, colourings & carbohydrate rich ingredients, your pet’s diet is often a good place to start. We understand that heavily processed foods for us humans may not be the healthiest & it’s the same for our pet’s too. Nurturing by Nature was not founded with a business plan at its heart. Research, study, Fred’s diagnosis with Cancer & then his visible health improvement paved the way for Nurturing by Nature. It created a belief, that a raw diet was the best diet for our four legged family members, our Cat’s & Dogs. A bison from our founder to tell more about this diet so that others could discover the health benefits for themselves. What we know through experience & through our community of thousands of pet owners is that by feeding a healthier, natural diet that is more inline with your Cats & Dogs natural diet they thrive. They are calmer, more relaxed & healthier allowing them to be more in-line with their natural behaviours.
Diet may be more important than you think.
Lifestyle
Be honest, how is your world, are you in a high pressure job, are you tense or stressed? Our Pet’s can sense this & as pack animals, if you the leader are stressed, anxious or tense they become this too. It’s their job to protect you in their minds so being honest & thinking about how you are can help your pet’s behaviours too. Again our human behaviours often are quite set, having formed such behaviour traits over many years. So if you think that your world could be calmer & more relaxed try to start a few things to make a positive difference.
Behaviours
What are your pet’s natural behaviours? Are they already super relaxed, chilled or are they always nervous, hyper active & excited. Breed, Age, history & Blood lines can all play a part in how they naturally behave but understanding their natural behaviour will allow you to judge how they may behave around fireworks & loud noises.
