It’s that time of year again when we all start thinking about Christmas and all of the lovely celebrations we will be having with our families and our pets. Well, we got to thinking; there will be a huge range of activities for the adults and children to get up to, but what about our pets?
Apart from some amazing walks and some really comfy dog friendly pubs with roaring fires afterwards, what opportunities are there for our families to celebrate this festive period with our fur babies.
So, after a bit of head scratching we came up with the idea of turning part of our Pamphill store into a beautiful, traditional and festive Santa’s Grotto for our four-legged visitors and their owners.
Pamphill is already a destination site that’s great for having a walk and picking up some choice goodies from both ourselves and the other artisan businesses on site. Well, now you can even have your picture taken in our festive and traditional Santa’s Grotto with your beloved companion. Or even take a few of your pet on their own to keep forever as a reminder of your special relationship.
We launched our Santa’s Grotto on the 20th of November and it will remain open right up to Christmas Eve, and in that time we will be having a competition for the best photo.
All funds raised will be going to support our chosen charity, Friends of Wessex Assisting Dogs. They raise awareness of the benefits of assistance dogs and raise funds for our national charity partners to enable them to place dogs with disabled people in the Wessex region. They also provide local liaison and support for our charity partners and emergency assistance for local people with assistance dogs, including travel and boarding.
Friends of Wessex Assistance Dogs are a charity that aids those who have disabilities and suffer issues with seeing and hearing, as well as funding cancer bio detection dogs. The dogs, once trained, help with tasks such as getting washing out of the machine, collecting things, bringing the post, carrying milk bottles, crossing the road and even putting cards in machines to take out money from cash points. They’re such amazing dogs, the list goes on. It’s such a great charity that we are proud and grateful to be associated with.
A donation of £5 is suggested, but whatever you can give is appreciated to support this well deserving charity.

So, come along and visit our Santa’s Grotto whilst picking up your raw dog food, cat food, natural dog treats or toys and accessories to have a picture taken that you can treasure forever. You’ll be helping to raise valuable money for a very worthwhile charity.
