Tell us a little bit about your dogs – their breed, age, names, approximate weight, and favourite things to do.

We have a team of working dogs, mainly Labradors and Spaniels of various ages and sizes, ranging from around 20kg to 35kg. They are very active and love long walks, playing, and working hard during the shooting season. They each have their own character and are always ready for an adventure.

What inspired you to switch to raw pet food for your dogs?

We had always raised our puppies on raw food and knew it was the route we eventually wanted to take. For a while, we hesitated as we assumed feeding raw to all our dogs would be too complicated, especially with the number we have. We now realise how wrong we were and really wish we had made the switch sooner.

How have your dogs’ health and energy levels changed since switching to raw?

Since switching to raw, our dogs are noticeably healthier and much happier. Their coats are shinier, their digestion is better, and they are more energised. During the shooting season, they hold their weight far better. Previously, we had to feed some of our larger dogs four times a day on biscuits, and even then they would lose a lot of weight. Now they work two to three days a week and maintain their condition brilliantly throughout the season without tiring halfway through the day.

Have you seen improvements in your dogs’ coat, skin or digestion?

Yes, definitely. Their coats are glossy, their stools are firm, their ears are clean, and there’s no dry or scurfy skin. They just look and feel healthier overall.

Have you noticed any changes in your dogs’ behaviour or mood?

We’ve seen a huge improvement. They’re more focused and alert during training and less distracted by food. They concentrate better and switch off more easily at home. There’s no more constant running around or attention-seeking. They’re calm, settled, and genuinely more content.

How do your dogs react to mealtimes now compared to before?

They absolutely love mealtimes. As soon as they see the food container, they start wagging their tails and padding their feet with excitement. It’s a joy to watch.

What do you love most about feeding raw?

We love how much our dogs enjoy it. The variety is fantastic, from different flavours to treats and extras like carcasses, wings and necks. Most importantly, we love knowing we’re feeding them something that makes them look and feel so good.

Have you noticed a difference in their weight and muscle tone?

Yes, our dogs have excellent muscle tone and keep a lean, healthy weight all year round. Before switching to raw, that felt impossible to achieve. Now it feels effortless.

How would you describe your experience with raw feeding to other dog owners?

We often speak to other dog owners, especially when rearing litters. We always try to inform them about the benefits of raw feeding, helped by the Nurturing by Nature puppy packs. We send new owners off with a week’s supply of raw food and do our best to explain how it’s not as messy or difficult as it’s sometimes perceived. There’s still a bit of hesitation from some, but we’re always trying to spread the word.

How long have you been a customer of Nurturing by Nature and what has your experience been like?

We’ve used Nurturing by Nature on and off for many years with our puppies, but made the full switch to feeding all of our dogs raw food in 2021.
